Description

l  Propylene Glycol is an organic compound. It appears as a colorless, transparent, and viscous liquid. It has no pungent odor, with a slightly sweet taste and a hint of spiciness. Under normal temperature and in ordinary air conditions, Propylene Glycol is stable and has hygroscopicity, capable of absorbing moisture in the surrounding air. Its boiling point is approximately 187.3 °C, and its freezing point is about -60 °C. Propylene glycol is highly soluble in water and can be miscible with water in any proportion. It can also be freely mixed with various organic solvents such as ethanol, insoluble in most oil-based substances. Within Its aqueous solution is neutral, with a pH value close to 7. Propylene glycol is mainly produced through the propylene oxide hydration method, that is, by reacting propylene oxide with water under the action of a catalyst.
